Tomis port is the fishing and tourist port of Constanta, located in the historical center of the city. The port was built in 1958 in the former Dolphin Bay. The port basin was made by closing the bay with two dams: the northern one, in the form of Y, with an initial length of 400 m, was extended in 2007 with a further 200 m portion; the eastern one starts from the cliff of the Casino, on a length of 500 m. Three of its four sides the eastern, southern and western ones were provided with docks. The depths are only 0.50 m in the southwestern part of the basin and 3 m in the northeastern area. In the years 2008-2010, a series of investments were made to allow the increase of the annual traffic and the tourist attendance, the results coming, but slower than expected. However, compared to the 1980s, the port has great facilities and looks much better.
