Pictured is wooden statue of Saint Anthony of Padua. He is patron saint of lost and stolen articles and was a powerful Franciscan preacher and teacher. He’s typically portrayed holding the child Jesus—or a lily—or a book—or all three—in his arms. The statue is inside the Collegiate Church in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Provence, France. The construction of the church stretched from the 14th to the 18th century. In 1666 the bishop of Venice bestowed the rank of Collegiate Church.
