Dolmabahce Palace (Dolmabahçe Sarayñ), Istambul, Turkey Built in 1856, Dolmabahce Palace served as the administrative center of the late Ottoman Empire, and also as the home of the last of the Ottoman Sultans. Following extensive restoration, the palace stands as a true symbol of 19th century Ottoman decadence with its 285 rooms, 43 large salons and even a 4.5-ton glass chandelier, the world's largest Bohemian crystal chandelier. A blend of various European architectural styles, the three-story marvel features such outbuildings as stables, a kitchen, pharmacies and aviaries.
