Vakil Mosque, Shabestan, pillars of the portico of Prayer Hall, Shiraz, Iran. Vakil means regent, which was the title used by Karim Khan, the founder of Zand Dynasty. Originally built between 1751 and 1773, however, it was restored in the 19th century during the Qajar period. The vaulted prayer hall, 75m x 36m, is supported by 48 carved monolithic columns.
