The Fountain of the Elephant Catania Sicily Italy #162288099
Description
The Fountain of the Elephant stands as the central axis of the Cathedral Square of Catania and is the symbol of the city. This original work was conceived by Vaccarini himself in 1736, who would integrate various elements to achieve a set that would represent the essence of the city. It is said that the elephant and the obelisk date from the Roman era and that the artist was inspired by the pattern of Bernini`s Minerva Elephant in Rome.
