Description
Ahmed al-Jazzar Pasha, known as the butcher, had the mosque constructed in 1781 in Akko (Acre), Israel. The mosque is an example of Ottoman architecture and incorporates both Byzantine and Persian styles into its design. Features include a green dome and a minaret that has a winding staircase of 124 steps. It is open for viewing by non-Muslim visitors.
