Description
Spotted deer in the winter forest. A rare species of deer, now spotted deer lives in the southern Primorye, brought to the middle belt of the European part of Russia and the Caucasus. Due to constant persecution almost became extinct in the early XX century. It feeds on herbaceous plants, fallen acorns, nuts and fruits, leaves of trees and shrubs, mushrooms and berries, in winter it also eats bark and young branches. The number of spotted deer in the wild is small. Now in the Central strip of Russia the spotted deer is bred in hunting farms, the livestock gradually increases. In winter, spotted deer easily survive in the wild, but often come to man-made feeders.
