The Palau de la Musica Catalana is an architectural jewel of Catalan Modernisme Art Nouveau, listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. It was built between 1905 and 1908 by the modernist architect Lluis Domènech i Montaner as a home for the Orfeo Catala, a local choral society. From the vestibule, two grand marble staircases bring the visitors to the first and second floor. The marble balustrades are supported by unusual transparent yellow glass balusters.
