Longtime Israeli lawmaker Geula Cohen attends a rally for reunification of Ethiopian families at Binyenei Ha`ouma in Jerusalem on November 10, 1987. Cohen, born in Tel Aviv, was active in the pre-state underground. Beginning in her teens, she served in Lehi, Etzel, and the Stern Gang. She was arrested by the British and escaped prison. Cohen was aligned with Menachem Begin in the right-wing Likud Party but left in opposition with the peace treaty with Egypt and was a leader of the Tehiya Party which was staunchly pro-settlers in the West Bank and Gaza, and continued her 19-year stint in the Knesset. Her son, Tzachi Hanegbi is a government minister with the Likud. Cohen died on December 18, 2019, one week shy of her 94th birthday.
