On a balmy summer night in 1986 Israeli kinetic artist Yaacov Agam with beard is joined by then prime minister Shimon Peres, and mayor Shlomo `Chich` Lahat attend the didication ceremony for `Fire and Water,` otherwise known as the Dizengoff Square Fountain, a colorful kinetic sculpture which became a Tel Aviv landmark. Over the years controversy swirled around the edifice because its maintenance was unexpectedly expensive. It was closed and repaired for a few years before being reopened in 2019.
