Pictured is the 7th Regiment Memorial in Central Park, New York. It honors the 58 men of New York`s 7th Regiment who died in the Civil War. The architect was Richard Morris Hunt and the sculptor was the renowned John Qunicy Adams Ward. It was dedicated in 1870. The bronze figure depicted is an ordinary soldier, his face resolute and his hands at rest on his rifle. He stands on a pedestal of Barre granite.
