The history of the Nossa Senhora da Salette Sanctuary, in Caldas Novas, GO, has its origin in 1999, in Rio de Janeiro. Guilherme Antônio Werlang MSF attended a course promoted by the Conference of Religious of Brazil. At that time he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Ipameri, GO. As a member of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Family, founded by the Missionary of Our Lady of Salette, Fr Jéan Berthier, the Salette Missionaries in Rio de Janeiro invited him to celebrate the episcopal appointment.At the meeting, Father Guilherme expressed the purpose of founding a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Salette when he was at the head of the Diocese of Ipameri, and entrusting his direction to the Saletine Missionaries. Fr. William was ordained Bishop on July 17, 1999. He took up the Diocese on August 7.
