The spring jazz festival was first held in Penza in 2011 - and became the most striking event in the musical life of not only the city of Penza, but also the entire Volga region. It immediately acquired an international character - guests from abroad in the first year of the festival were jazz musicians from Italy. Jazz groups and performers from Penza and the satellite city of Zarechny take part in Jazz May Penza 2019, as well as guests from Moscow, Samara, Saratov, etc. Foreign jazz is represented by musicians from Germany, Austria and the UK.
