The former Himalayan kingdom of Mustang is a starkly beautiful land . Its allure has come from a history relative inaccessibility and a reputation as a bastion of traditional Tibetan culture . in 2008 , Nepal`s newly formed republic abolished the Mustang monarchy`s official status .
