It is one of a series of speculative paintings presented to the Texas Centennial Commission on September 6, 1934 by prominent architect George Dahl. The paintings helped Dahl win the commission and supervise the $25 million construction project that transformed Fair Park in Dallas into a masterpiece worthy the Texas Centennial Exposition in 1936. The Exposition was a world`s fair celebraing the 100th anniversary of Texas independence from Mexico.
