Description
High altar and apsis the church of San Giovanni a Porta Latina near the Porta Latina gate of the third-century Aurelian Walls in Rome, Italy. The central nave closes with a half-hexagon apse.The church is considered one of the eldest in Rome. In the 8th century, the Basilica was restored by Pope Adrian I, and in the 12th century the bell-tower and portico were added, In the 16th and 17th centuries, a Baroque ceiling and other Baroque features were added to the interior removed in 1940ââ¬â1941.
