Coal and Copper Miner ID tag board #175466646
Description
In the 1800`s miners wore a metal tag. In case of mine accident, the metal tag would not be destroyed and the miner`s identity could be determined. When leaving the mine shaft, the metal tag would be put back on the pegboard so the shift manager could determine if all miners safely exited the mine. Some of the tags have the name of next of kin to notify if the miner did not exit the mine.
