The old Baishatuo Yangtze River Bridge is a double-track railway bridge officially opened in December 1959. It is the first Yangtze River Bridge in Chongqing`s history. When the bridge was completed, it was named `Chongqing Yangtze River Bridge`. It is the second Yangtze River Bridge after the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, with a length of 820.3 meters, connecting the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway in the north and the Sichuan-Guizhou Railway in the south. Starting from April 24, 2019, the Chongqing Baishatuo Yangtze River Bridge will be officially suspended. December 15, 2009 was listed as the second batch of Chongqing cultural relics protection units.The Xinbaishatuo Yangtze River Bridge is a key control project of the Chongqing-Guizhou Railway. It has a total length of 5,320 meters and crosses the Baishatuo River section of the Yangtze River.The main bridge is a double-layer six-line railway steel truss cable-stayed bridge with a total length of 920.4 meters.The bridge is the world`s first six-track railway steel truss cable-stayed bridge, the world`s longest main span and the heaviest load six-track railway steel-truss cable-stayed bridge, and the world`s first double-decker railway Steel truss cable-stayed bridge.
