The Regoufe Mines are a space of high historical, geological and landscape value. One of the most curious aspects of the history of these mines is related to the fact that they were explored, during World War II, by Englishmen, and the mines of Rio de Frades, a few kilometers away, were explored by Germans, two forces opposed in the war scenario, that here, in Arouca, lived in complete peace. From these mines the tungsten was used to feed the armament of both war forces.
