Rusty Padlock On A Rusty Chain Link Fence Nothing Locked Up Stock Photo

I found this rusty old iron padlock on an even rustier metal chain link fence in my neighborhood. It`s locked to the fence, holding nothing in place. Forgotten a long time ago. Curious what it held in place. There`s a tradition of locks on fences or bridges for lost loved ones. I don`t think this was the intention here. Just an oversight, absentmindedness or lack of caring. No longer useful.
