The Fountain of Orion could be found at the center of Piazza Duomo. It was built in 1553 to celebrate the city’s first aqueduct, in honor of the mythological founder of the city, the hunter Orion. At the base, the 4 reclining figures symbolize the rivers Nile, Tiber, Ebro and Camaro just this last one channels water to give life to the aqueduct. Mythological figures act as a support to the central basins, at the height of which there is the place of Orion, with the crossed shield of Messina and his faithful dog Sirius.
