Stage and film director Vincente Minnelli arrives at the 10th Annual American Film Institute gala at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC on November 17, 1977. He is accompanied by his girlfriend, English-born actress Lee Anderson. They were married from 1980 until 1986. She died in 2009 at the age of 100. Minnelli`s most famous cinema directorial efforts were for `Meet Me in St. Louis,` `An American in Paris,` and `Gigi,` for which he won the Oscar. Minnelli was married to Judy Garland and is the father of Liza Minnelli. He died in 1986 at the age of 83.
