Description
Durres is one of the oldest cities in Albania, the second after the capital in terms of population, the main port of the country. The city has several interesting monuments that are remnants of Roman and Venetian times. There is, among others, a Roman amphitheater from the beginning of the 2nd century, the largest in the Balkans, whose ruins were discovered in 1966, Roman baths from the 2nd century discovered in 1962, the Roman Forum from the 5th century, the remains of defensive walls from the 5th and 6th centuries and the Venetian tower from the 15th century.
