Jean Roesselmann is the local hero, being a provost of Colmar, he was relieved from his duties in 1260 by the local nobility who supported the Bishop of Strasbourg. Colmar, with cobblestone streets lined with half-timbered medieval and early Renaissance buildings, is considered one of the most beautiful and colourful towns in France.
