Description
The Kukulkan Pyramid, also known as El Castillo or the Temple of Kukulkan, is a Mesoamerican pyramid located in the center of the archeological site, Chichen Itza in the Mexican state of Yucatán. The present temple was built in the 12th century AD. for the itzá Mayans in the ancient city of Chichén Itzá. The stepped pyramid is a temple in honor of Kukulkan, the snake god with feathers of Toltec origin. This is one of the most famous pre-Columbian Mexican monuments. The pyramid consists of a series of square terraces, with stairs on each of the four sides of the temple.
