The island of Delos near Mykonos is a most important archaeological site in Greece #180579639
Description
Delos or the Island of Temples had a position as a holy sanctuary for a millennium before Olympian Greek mythology made it the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. Established as a culture centre, Delos had an importance that its natural resources could never have offered. Now it has no hotels, no restaurants and no inhabitants. You can only visit it on a daytrip. In the evening it is `closed`. You can choose from a number of small boats going up and down in between Mykonos-town and Delos to have a look..
