Description
Bratsky Ostrog was founded in 1631 on the Bank of the Angara river. The fortress, built by the Cossacks, served as a strong point for Russian settlers and authorities in the Baikal region.Bratsky Ostrog played a significant role in the development of Siberia and the Far East. In the XVII century, many Russian explorers passed by it.In 1959, the North-Western tower was moved to Kolomenskoye, where it was restored in 2007. The upper floor of the tower was used as a defensive structure.
