Tower-ruin in the Park Tsaritsyno #180590577
Description
On the high Bank of the Upper Tsaritsyn pond is an unusual structure-a tower-ruin, built in 1804. Unlike many buildings destroyed over time, this landmark was originally conceived as an artificial ruin.In the XVIII century, it became fashionable to arrange various entertainment facilities in landscape parks in Russia. Park ideas were a kind of surprise for guests. The ruin tower was one of the first `ideas` created in Tsaritsyno Park. The structure imitates the remains of a destroyed medieval fortress. The author of the construction, the architect Ivan Yegotov, created a fragment of the fortress wall with a corner defensive tower and an observation platform. The structure is made of rough white stone and brick.Originally, an openwork gazebo with a spire was installed on top of the tower, from which guests admired the wonderful views of the surrounding Park. On top of the fortress wall is a staircase, and the base of the wall was decorated with colored moss.
