Title
`Temple of Ceres` `Golden sheaf` a small gazebo on the southern border of the Tsaritsyn landscape Park. It was built in 1805 b #180590583
Description
The location of the gazebo was not chosen by chance. In the summer of 1775 after the purchase of Tsaritsyn-Catherine II rested here in a hut. From this hill, she observes a rural holiday: it is arranged for the Empress by Grigory Potemkin with the participation of local peasants. In fact, the construction of the gazebo marks the official beginning of a new stage in the life of Tsaritsyn. It is no coincidence that Valuev orders the architect to put in the` Temple ` a statue of Ceres ââ¬â the ancient Roman goddess of fertility with a gilded sheaf in his hands. The gazebo itself is a rotunda with a colonnade on a three-stage base. The dome is crowned with a sheaf of ears ââ¬â also gilded.
