Description
Varaha cave temple is a rock-cut cave temple at Mahabalipuram, Tamilnadu is part of the Group of Monuments and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This temple is an best example of the Indian rock-cut architecture built in the late 7th century. In this basrelief sculpture Lord Vishnu depicts in the huge incarnated form of Varaha, the boar, lifting Bhudevi, the earth goddess symbolically representing removal of ignorance of human beings.
