A view of the gates at Zafar Mahal in Mehrauli #182223908
Description
A view of the entry gate at Zafar Mahal which was reconstructed during the time of Bahadur Shah Zafar himself. This gate was one of the very last architectural projects undertaken by the Mughals before the British routed them off in the aftermath of the Revolt of 1857. The amalgamation of sandstone with marble reminisces with the era of Akbar & Shahjahan respectively.Today, Zafar Mahal is surrounded by tall houses & electricity wires, however, the moment you enter inside, it is a different world altogether. Amidst the deafening silence, one can almost breathe in the melancholic grief of the times gone by. My personal piece of advice would be to go there with company & explore the whole area with as much time as possible, to take it all in.
