Pictured is the base of a concrete statue of a heroic female figure designed by Raoul Josset and executed by Jose Martin, two French sculptors who worked on the Texas Centennial transformation of Fair Park in 1935 and 1936. It is known as the `Founder`s Statue` and was erected in 1938 to memorialize the founders of the Texas State Fair and pay tribute to the role of the press in publicizing the annual event.
