Shanghai Sun Yat-sen`s Former Residence Memorial Hall is located at No. 7 Xiangshan Road, Shanghai. It covers an area of ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹more than 2,500 square meters and has a display area of ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹1,100 square meters. It mainly consists of two exhibition venues: Sun Yat-sen`s Former Residence and Sun Yat-Sen Heritage Museum.nThe former residence of Sun Yat-sen is the only common residence of Sun Yat-sen and Song Qingling. It is a small European-style bungalow in the European village. Sun Yat-sen and his wife Song Qingling stayed here in 1918. After the death of Sun Yat-sen in March 1925, Song Qingling continued to live here until 1937. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Song Qingling moved to Hong Kong and Chongqing. At the end of 1945, Song Qingling returned to Shanghai and transferred the residence to the National Government as a permanent memorial to Sun Yat-sen. The museum is rebuilt from a European-style bungalow. It has three floors and eight exhibition areas, with an exhibition area of ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹more than 700 square meters and a total of more than 300 pieces of cultural relics, handwritings and materials.nIn March 1961, the former residence of Sun Yat-sen in Shanghai was listed as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council. In March 1988, the former residence was officially opened to the outside world. In 1994, the former residence was listed as the Shanghai Patriotic Education Base.
