Lake WÃÂnaka is the fourth largest lake in New Zealand. The Otago area is 278 meters above sea level, covers 192 km2 and is more than 300 meters deep. The original name of MÃÂori Oanaka means `Place of Anaka,` the local chief of the tribe. The city near the foot of the lake is called Wanaka. It is located in the Queenstown-Lakes District, Otago region, New Zealand.
