Environmental art creator Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, known professionally as Christo, discusses the film `The Gates,` about the controversial display in Central Park, New York City, mounted from February 12 to February 27, 2005. The blowing saffron orange fabric material, hung from gates which were 16 feet high. the vast number of gates covered its winding path for 23 miles around the park. The event was a press conference at the 6th Tribeca Film Festival in Manhattan on May 1, 2007. Christo's wife, Jeanne-Claude, Moroccan-born, was his partner in the artistic endeavors which involved large objects enveloped in fabric. The controversial events were mounted at sundry sites spanning the globe. She died at 74 in November, 2009. Christo, born in Bulgaria, died at his home in New York City on May 31, 2020, at the age of 84.
