George Floyd protests against police brutality in Detroit #185241757
Description
Protesters marching against police brutality wave Mexican and Puerto Rican flags as they cross Interstate 75 into Southwest Detroit, a diverse neighborhood with a large Latinx population. One sign reads `I can`t breathe,` referring to the murder of George Floyd after he was detained as a suspect in a nonviolent crime by Derek Chauvin, a Minneapolis police officer who has since been convicted of multiple felonies related and unrelated to the murder. A citizens` organization, Detroit Will Breathe, has been organizing many of the protests, including this one on a hot June evening.
