Description
August 2012, Taipei, Taiwan: high-angle view of the 660t-heavy tuned mass damper, which is mounted between storeys 87 and 91 to reduce mechanical vibrations atop the Taipei 101 skyscraper. Also known as a harmonic absorber, this device is meant to reduce the amplitude of mechanical vibrations. It can prevent damage, or structural failure.
