Description

Aquilegia flowers against a Sunny blue sky. Watershed, or Aquilegia, is a genus of herbaceous perennial plants in the Buttercup family. Members of the genus grow in the Northern hemisphere. There are 35 types of Colo. Shoots have a two-year development cycle. In the first year, at the base of the flowering shoot, a renewal Bud is laid. From it in autumn, after the end of flowering, only the basal rosette of leaves is formed. The leaves overwinter and mostly die in early spring. These autumn leaves are replaced by another generation of leaves that vegetate all summer until autumn. From the center of the leaf rosette in late spring and early summer, flower — bearing stems are formed, bearing stem leaves and flowers. Flowers are single drooping, of various sizes and colors: blue, purple, yellow, crimson, white or two-tone, combining these colors. The Corolla consists of five separate lobes, similar to a funnel with an obliquely cut wide opening, and spurs of various shapes and lengths, usually curved at the narrow end. Spurless stellate forms are also known. The length and degree of curvature, as well as the absence of spurs, are important systematic features in determining the species and garden forms of Aquilegia. Flowers are used to decorate the garden plot of a rural or country house, flower beds and flower beds.
