Description
The sandhill crane, Antigone canadensis, is a species of large crane of North America and extreme northeast Siberia. Adults are gray over all. During breeding season their plumage is much more worn and stained. The give a large trumpeting call that suggests a rolled R. The female makes two calls for every one the male makes. The wingspan is from 5`5` to 7`7`. They fly south for the winter in flocks of more than 10,000.
