June 13, 2020 - Tarnow, Poland: Poland commemorates the 80th Anniversary of the First Transport of Poles to Auschwitz. It was on June 14, 1940, that the first trainload of Polish prisoners arrived at the Nazi-German Auschwitz concentration camp, marking the beginning of the tragic and systemic extermination of Poles at the hands of the Nazi-German occupier. Poland commemorates these terrifying events on the National Remembrance Day of the Victims of German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camps.Strung up and down the streets of town of Tarnow are the names and numbers of the 728 Polish prisoners sent from here.
