Title
Seattle Ballard Locks Fish Ladder for Salmon #187439682
Description
The Ballard Boat locks move boats from the ocean side of Puget Sound into the fresh water of Lake Washington. Most salmon species migrate during the fall September through November. Salmon mostly spend their early life in rivers, and then swim out to sea where they live their adult lives and gain most of their body mass. When they have matured, they return to the rivers to spawn. The fish ladder helps the salmon fish migrate from landlocked rivers to the Pacific Ocean. Location Hiram Chittenden locks, Ballard, Washington near Seattle.
