Caesarea, more precisely Kejsarja is a modern residence of the common settlement type in Israel, in the Haifa district, in the regional council of Chof ha-Karmel, founded in the 1970s near the ancient site of Caesarea Maritima.On the site of the present village stood in ancient times the port city of Caesarea Maritima, used in the Middle Ages by the Crusaders. Caesarea Maritima, often without the nickname Caesarea or the Greek Kaisareia, was an important ancient city in Palestine, and in the Middle Ages an important city of the Crusaders. The archeological excavations in Caesarea are among the most important in today`s Israel.
