The traditional boats Uros- Titicaca-Peru - 463 #188906190
Description
The artificial island and the traditional boats Uros are made of a plant called totora, similar to reeds. When you step on the island, your feet sink into the water-biting woodpecker, and it gives you a feeling of imbalance. There was also a demonstration made by a local, about how to build and maintain this floating island. Specifically, new layers of totora stems are placed, but they rot quite quickly, so the process must be repeated periodically, maintenance being a basic occupation, especially since here everything, houses, boats and furniture and almost everything you see on this island are made of the same material
