Main tower of Rabat fortress 0071 #189361166
Description
Modern Akhaltsikhe was founded at the beginning of the 12th century AD. From 1579 to 1829 the city belonged to the Ottoman Empire. Rabat fortress was built by the Turks, and recently it was restored. The architecture of the fortress is wonderful and unique, for the reason mentioned above it is significantly different from Georgian architecture. On a high cliff inside the fortress, the main tower of the fortress rises; its height and size are noticeably larger than all the other towers. The tower looks like an autonomous fortress inside Rabat.
