Monument to field horse artillery on the Borodino field, Russia #189514023
Description
The monument to the field horse artillery was erected by the grateful descendants of the horse artillerymen in 1912 according to the project of the Moscow architect Alexei Pavlovich Vereshchagin, and is a gray granite block, the outlines of which resemble the silhouette of a horse artillery helmet. The main feature of this type of artillery was the speed of movement in the field, good maneuverability during combat, and the increased efficiency of the use of artillery pieces. Horse companies that were part of the brigades were assigned, as a rule, to cavalry divisions and corps, they were actively used in cavalry attacks, striking enemy cavalry with fire.
