Description
Oregano, Genus Origanum, species vulgare, family lamiaceae, a flowering plant in the mint family. Native of Western and Southwestern Eurasia and the Mediterranean region. Perennial herb, growing from 20ââ¬â80 cm 7.9ââ¬â31.5 in tall. Tiny purple flowers, 3ââ¬â4 mm 0.12ââ¬â0.16 in long, produced in erect spikes. Sometimes called wild marjoram, it`s a culinary herb used for the flavor of its leaves, often more flavorful dried than fresh. It has an aromatic, warm, and slightly bitter taste.
