Selkirk Shores State Park on Lake Ontario July 21, 2020. Lake Ontario is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. It is surrounded on the north, west, and southwest by the Canadian province of Ontario, and on the south and east by the American state of New York, whose water boundaries meet in the middle of the lake. Selkirk Shores State Park`s campsites overlook a bluff on Lake Ontario. Visitors can expect outstanding fishing and spectacular sunsets. Selkirk Shores is on the direct migration route for a wide variety of bird species, so birdwatchers flock to the park. The colors at sunset and sunrise are the result of Rayleigh scattering, a physics phenomenon that scatters the light from the Sun as it interacts with molecules in the air.
