Umberto Saba`s tomb, at the registry office Umberto poli Trieste 1883 - Gorizia 1957, in the cemetery of S. Anna in Trieste. Saba was one of the greatest Italian poetic and literary personalities of the early 1900s. In a climate where futurism and hermeticism spread, the figure of Saba stood solitary towards a notoriously anti-hermetic poetry, aimed at simplicity with the use of comprehensible terms taken from everyday life.We remember the works: Poems, is from 1911; followed: with my eyes 1912, light and wandering things 1920, Il Canzoniere 1921; critical ed. edited by G. Castellani, 1981, Prelude and canzonette 1922, figures and songs 1926, Prelude and fugues 1928, Three compositions 1933, Parole 1934, Last things 1944, then all collected in the edition. definitive of the Canzoniere 1945; and therefore Mediterranee 1947, Birds - Almost a story 1951. He also wrote some prose between narratives and lyrics: Scorciatoie e raccini 1946, Ricordi-racconti 1956 and Storia e cronistoria del Canzoniere 1948, a contribution to self-criticism; posthumously 1975; new ed. 1995 an unfinished novel, Ernesto, written in 1953 was published
