This bell is very famous in the Aceh area. History records that the chakra bell was a gift from Admiral Cheng Ho, a leader of the Chinese navy sent by the Emperor of China to the Samudera Pasai Sultanate in 1405. The giving of these bells was in order to bind friendly relations and cooperation between two kingdoms in different countries. This bell measures 11/2 m long and 1 m wide. In around 1524 AD the Sultanate of Pasai was conquered by the Sultanate of Aceh Darussalam and the bells were finally transported to Banda Aceh.
