In this monochrome rendering Civil Rights leader, writer, tv personality, and former Georgia state legislator Julian Bond speaks before an audience at the Leon and Toby Cooperman JCC in West Orange, NJ, on December 9, 1998. Bond won the National Freedom Award in 2002, and was a former NAACP Chairman. Bond was one of the founders of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee SNCC, and a co-founder and first president of the Southern Poverty Law Center. He died at 75 on August 15, 2015 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
